THE BLUE WAVE OFFLINE MAIL DOOR
Download/Bundle Options Menu Help
P)acket Type
------------
Allows you to select which type of mail packet to download. Two types
are available: Blue Wave (the door's native format) and QWK (a format
which is popular and widespread, but lacks the power and flexibility of
the Blue Wave format).
If you are using The Blue Wave Offline Mail Reader, or a reader which is
Blue Wave compatible, it is recommended that you use the Blue Wave
format for your mail packets, as it allows you to take full advantage of
the capabilities of both the door and your mail reader.
If, however, you are using a mail reader that does not support Blue Wave
packets, set this option to generate QWK packets. You will not be able
to make use of all the door's features (such as file requesting and
advanced offline configuration), but many features (such as Bundling
Commands) that don't rely on the advanced capabilities of the Blue Wave
format will still be available.

P)acket Type (cont)
-------------------
** NOTE **
This item may or may not be available to you, depending on whether or
not the SysOp has registered the door. If the door is not registered,
only the Blue Wave format will be available.
N)ew File Listings in Packets
-----------------------------
After packing your messages for download, the door will scan the BBS
file areas for new files since your last successful mail download. There
are three choices for this option:
NO - Do not bother building a new file listing.
YES - Build a new file listing (text, no color).
COLOR - Build a new file listing, and include ANSI colors.
*** NOTE ***
The Sysop may have disabled this option; if so, you will not be able to
change it (it will automatically default to NO).

T)agged Message Areas Only
--------------------------
Normally, all message areas are included in the *.INF file stored in the
mail packet. However, on systems with hundreds (or even thousands) of
areas, processing such a large number of areas takes time. Enabling
this option restricts the message areas that are processed to only the
areas that you have tagged for downloading. This shortens considerably
the amount of time needed to scan and bundle messages.
There is a tradeoff with this option, however, in that if only tagged
areas are included in the mail packet, configuring message areas via the
Offline Configuration option in the mail reader won't work. At best,
you'll only be able to affect the areas you've tagged; you won't be able
to add new areas, since the reader needs to see the full list of areas
in order for this feature to work. If such a feature is important to
you, you'll have to enable the full area list.
B)undle Messages From You
-------------------------
If you turn this option OFF, the door will not bundle any messages into
your mail packet that have either your name or alias in the FROM: field.
{PAUSE}
U)se Numerical Packet Extensions
--------------------------------
When the door builds your mail packets, it normally names the packet
extensions with the day of the week and the number of the packet for the
day (MO1, TU2, WE7, TH1, etc). If you would like you packets to have
sequential numeric extensions (001, 002, 003, etc), turn this option ON.
E)xtended Message Information
-----------------------------
Messages that travel through electronic mail networks (such as FidoNet)
often have control information imbedded in the message. This option
allows you to specify whether such information is kept in or removed
from messages. Since most users have no need of this information, this
option should normally be turned OFF; this has the added benefit of
making the mail packet smaller.
*** NOTE ***
The Sysop may have disabled this option; if so, you will not be able to
change it (it will automatically default to OFF).
{PAUSE}
L)imit Download Packet Size
---------------------------
The door allows you to define the MAXIMUM size of your UNcompressed mail
packet. Set this option to "0" (Zero) if you do not wish to limit your
mail packet size. Otherwise, you may set this to any number greater
than 50. When the uncompressed size of your mail packet exceeds your
limit, the door will cease bundling and allow you to download as much
mail as will fit into your "packet size window".
K)eyword Selection
------------------
Allows you to define up to 10 keywords of up to 20 characters apiece.
When the door scans the BBS's message base for mail, you will be
informed of any keywords that are present in the various message bases.
You can then use the Blue Wave Bundling Commands to download ONLY the
messages that contain these keywords. Please see the reader's
documentation for more details.
{PAUSE}
F)ilter Selection
-----------------
Filters perform very similarly to the K)eywords option, but instead the
door will allow you to FILTER out the messages that you do not want to
download. Again, please see the reader documentation for more details.
M)acro Definitions
------------------
The door allows you to define three macros that you can use for often-
entered Bundling Commands. Instead of typing a long, cumbersome string
each time you download mail, simply define a Macro! At the command
prompt, you can then simply type "M1", "M2", or "M3".
X)pert Menu Mode
----------------
Enables the door's EXPERT menus. You should not use this option if you
are not familiar with the way the door operates.
